Review on Ristorante Il Porcino

Olive Garden may be one of the most popular Italian cuisine restaurants, but a more authentic one would have to be Ristorante Il Porcino, which is a whole lot better than the chain.

The restaurant is located at 3339 Walnut Avenue, Fremont, CA 94538. Its hours vary for lunch and dinner; for lunch, it is open Monday through Saturday from 11am – 2:30pm while it is closed for lunch on Sunday. For dinner, it is open Monday through Sunday from 5pm – 10pm (9pm on Sunday).

Although the prices were similar to Olive Garden’s, the taste is the main difference. The waiters were also very well-mannered. This place is also perfect for a date or if you want to go with a group of friends, with a romantic and peaceful environment.

When I visited the restaurant, I was very surprised to see that it was nearly packed. Luckily, there was a table for me and I was seated quickly. The restaurant specialized mostly in pasta, but it also had some selections with steak like salmon, chicken, and beef.

After browsing through all the options, I chose Tortellini del Chef. It is a tortellini pasta with cheese inside, smothered with a truffle cream sauce, served with parmesan cheese, peas and prosciutto, which is thin, sliced ham.

The wait for the food was not very long; it took around 10 minutes. The moment it arrived, I instantly smelled the garlic from the creamy sauce. I was very excited because I am a huge fan of pasta, and it did not fail my stomach at all. The dish was executed perfectly. It was one of the best pastas I have ever had, and I have been to quite a lot of Italian restaurants aside from Olive Garden.

I instantly tasted the garlic from the sauce, and the cheese inside the tortellini. It was divine, delectable, rich from the cheese; this was real authentic Italian food. The chef did a wonderful job in combining all the ingredients in the dish. Initially, I thought it was going to be filling since it had cheese in the tortellini, and parmesan cheese over it, but the chef intelligently made the parmesan subtle. I was not disappointed for even a moment.

Il Porcino was a very satisfying restaurant. To be honest, I am disappointed in myself for not having discovered this place until recently. The restaurant has been around for over 20 years, and not once did I pay attention to it, even though I go around that area to eat a lot. So a tip to everyone: try the restaurants that have been around for a long time, even if they do not have a lot of people; most of the time, you will not regret your experience.
