American High School’s senior class of 2014 has been preparing for the upcoming June trip to Disneyland for Grad Nite since early May.  Grad Nite is set for June 13th, the day after the graduation ceremony.  Seniors will depart in their respective buses at 6:00 AM, arriving at Disneyland at approximately 2:30 PM.  Thereafter, the students will regroup and return to the buses at 2:00 AM on June 14th, and arrive back at American High at 10:00 AM.  So far, there has been one mandatory, parent-student meeting on May 7th at 7:30 PM in the Multi-Purpose Room to brief the parents on the itinerary, as well as enable students to get a head-start on booking buses, lunch orders, confirming contact information and receiving their class T-shirts.

“Lately, I’ve seen a lot of the seniors sporting their Disneyland shirts,” Soumya Agrawal (9) said.  “It makes me realize how close to the end of the year we all are, and how much I’m going to miss having a lot of the seniors around!”

Students lined up at stations placed around the MPR, each for a different bus.  A total of six buses, seniors were noted down on a first-come-first-serve basis.

“I expected it to be as chaotic as it was,” Amy Le (12) said.  “Everyone would want to be seated with their friends and there are a limit number of seats; that places an unfortunate time-crunch on everyone.”

Seniors will be “checking out” the week of finals for all other students.  At this time, final preparations for Grad Nite will be underway.

“I plan to hold another counselor meeting and then brief our class one last time in preparation for a fun-filled June,” president Divya Madhavan (12) said.  “At the meeting we will discuss safety strategies, itinerary, and answer any questions students may have about the Grad Nite trip or that final week of June itself.”
