Marvel released its newest film, “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” on Friday April 4, 2014. The film is a sequel to both “Captain America: The First Avenger” (2011) and “The Avengers” (2012). Fans of the original Marvel comic books and the Marvel cinematic movies were highly anticipating the next installment.
The movie follows Captain Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) who, after being frozen for 70 years and fighting the massive attack in New York, is now working for SHIELD, the agency that deals with paranormal or unusual happenings in the Marvel universe. However, while the job seems perfect for Steve in the beginning, he, with the help of Natasha Romanoff (Scarlett Johansson) begins to uncover secrets that SHIELD has been trying hard to keep.
As with all superhero movies, there is plenty of action to keep the film entertaining, as well as just enough dramatic and comedic bursts to keep the movie moving forward. “Captain America: The Winter Soldier”, in comparison to some other Marvel movies, has a slow start, but the movie does not stay that way.

Everything in the movie is working toward unravelling a bigger plot that, at first, isn’t clear, but soon unwraps itself to reveal one big finale that has some fairly drastic changes to the Marvel cinematic universe.
This well written and suspense filled plot line is one of the best written for a while in Marvel movies. It was able to keep a fun and intense plot line for this movie that not only will drive the story line for Steve Rogers and Natasha Romanoff, but also for the rest of the Marvel characters in the cinematic universe.
Captain America is due to come back for the “Avengers” sequel, “Avengers:Age of Ultron”, to be released some time in 2015, but until then “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” is a must see. Just a hint though, as with most Marvel movies, make sure to stay all the way until the end of the credits to fully enjoy the film in its entirety.
My Rating, 5/5 Stars
