Swimming is a fun activity during the summer and many people stop when the weather starts getting cold, however, the Silliman Activity and Family Aquatic Center in Newark, California off Mowry Avenue has an indoor pool with a balmy atmosphere of seventy two degrees making it possible to swim summer or winter, sunshine or not.
“My family always goes to the Silliman Center during the winter,” senior Sabah Khokhar said. “We have such a great time because they have something for everyone”
The facility has a combination of pools for all ages including a children’s activity pool, a lazy river, large slides, a jacuzzi, and an open lap pool.
“Such a great activity to bring the family together for such a low price,” junior Bibihawa Mohabbat said. “Sometimes you just miss the summer during winter and the Silliman Center gives you the summer feeling.”
The aquatic center charges six dollars for admission and for additional charges the following can be provided: swim lessons, water exercise classes, mini-recreation swim, river walking, pool safety presentations for the classroom, lifeguard training, and junior lifeguard camps.
“Honestly, I love swimming and I am so glad I found it last year,” senior Keerat Bains said. “They even have a nice little cafe and a fitness center.”

There is also the Otter Alley Cafe where people can enjoy snacks and meals after their swim, and a fitness center for working out and playing basketball. Those are open during recreation time.
