A magical prom evening unfolds

As twinkling lights draped from above and shimmering centerpieces caught the glow of the chandeliers, this year’s prom theme truly lived up to its name. Months of careful planning, collaboration, and creativity culminated in a night filled with style and music, thanks to the efforts of the prom committee, ASB, and staff advisor Mr. Anderson.

“We wanted something dreamy and elegant, but also really memorable,” said Chloe Deng (12) of the prom committee. “After voting on a few theme ideas, ‘Lost at Sea’ stood out because it gave us so much room to be creative with the decor.”

Held at the California Academy of Sciences, a location chosen for its spacious and aesthetic charm, the prom venue was transformed into a celestial dream. Sea-like lights, deep navy blues, and photo booths framed to perfection gave the event a visually rich, artistic atmosphere.”

The goal was to create an immersive experience from the moment you walk said Deng. “Every detail from the lighting to the table settings was selected to reflect that ‘Lost at Sea’ vibe.”

Planning such an event came with challenges, particularly in working within budget while still capturing the desired look and feel. “There were a lot of adjustments and problem-solving moments,” said Deng.” But seeing it all come together made it worth it.”

The teamwork of the prom committee brought the vision to life over several weeks of after-school meetings, calls, and even late-night Pinterest boards.

Many students saw the theme as one of the most memorable. “I’m so excited, I’ve heard about the beautiful decorations,” said junior Anna Dinh.

When asked what advice they’d give to next year’s committee, current memoirs agreed: start early, communicate constantly, and don’t forget to enjoy the moment. “It goes by fast,” said Deng. “But seeing everyone about to have such a good time makes it worth it.”
